Manitoba nears record for single day organ and tissue donor registration
Generosity of Manitobans prompts spike in registrations at Sign Up for Life
1,206 Manitobans registered as organ and tissue donors following yesterday’s announcement of the province’s move to an online registry. The response is the second highest spike in registrations experienced since www.signupforlife.ca was launched.
The highest one day registration was recorded just over one year ago when 1,866 Manitobans signed up following the tragedy involving the Humboldt Broncos.
All Manitobans are encouraged to have donation conversations with their families and to take their decisions online. Now is the time to recycle paper donor cards.
Registration takes two minutes and requires three pieces of information – name, birthdate and nine digit Manitoba Health card number.
The registry currently holds the decisions of 38,243 Manitobans.
